The many mass shooting tragedies highlight the problem with mental health treatment in our country. Many people who show warning signs do not receive treatment until they have committed a crime or hurt someone. The only public institution we have with access to nearly every child in the country is the education system.
Therefore, we the people call on the Obama Administration to implement a mental health screening program, to include grades K through 12, to identify children and young adults with problems early, to provide education on mental health and illnesses, and to make treatment readily available.
Hopefully we can then identify mental illness early and treat it before the individual harms themselves or someone else, and prevent more tragedies from happening.
