Each year thousands of people die in vehicle accidents, many of which are triggered by intoxication, road rage, and tiredness. These issues can be completely avoided by self-driving vehicles. Pressure needs to be placed on vehicle manufacturers to create autonomous cars that eliminate casualties during driving and reduce government agency costs of vehicle law enforcement. With autonomous cars, traffic is eliminated, cars can travel at higher speeds, they exhibit much faster reaction time in comparison with humans, and they could safely diverge away from emergency service vehicles that would be able to safely race down streets.
