Implement laws governing the securing and storage of firearms rather than focus on the type of firearm or manufacturer.

Rather than continue to focus on specific types of firearms that result in minimal impact on either new or existing guns in circulation, we need to focus on implementing a law that WOULD effect both new and existing firearms in circulation. We need to implement a stricter law governing the securing and storage of all firearms by their owners. By enforcing a law that requires gun owners to secure their firearms in an approved gun safe where they alone have the combination, we remove all guns from unauthorized hands. Implement laws that penalize gun owners as accessories to the crime their firearm was used in (extenuating circumstances excluded). This will force gun owners to realize and uphold their responsibility for both having a gun and exercising their right to keep and bare arms.
