There are quite a few larger 501(c)(3) organizations that are abusing their tax-exempt status by compensating some of their employees entirely too much.
If an organization is willing to pay some of their employees enough to put them in the top 5% of all U.S. earners, they should not have the privilege to file tax-exempt. These organizations are intended to generously provide help to those in need. By accepting donations, the donators expect their generosity to reach those that need it, not to the wallets of the greedy.
There should be a maximum-wage law implemented to all organizations seeking tax-exempt status! A modest salary allows donations to reach those in need. An extravagant salary deceives the government grants, the generous donations and the public view of their stated mission.
