It is the belief of a great many of Americans that the life and work of Leslie Nielsen must be formally recognized. Though born Canadian, he became an American citizen. From early dramatic roles through to historic comedic performances, Mr. Neilsen's body of work is an artistic treasure that necessitates a day of national reflection. This day should also coincide with the PBS network's showing of the following feature films repeatedly for the entire 24 hours: Airplane!, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad, The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear, The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
