Eisenhower's Interstate Highway System created a foundation for unparalleled economic prosperity. Now, more than fifty years later, our aging roads are choked with cars. Even in this coming age of driverless vehicles, the highway system is in crisis and we can't spend money fast enough to fix it. We believe it is necessary to plan for and implement a national high speed rail network. This system will allow people to move rapidly and cheaply over long distances while dramatically reducing the carbon footprint necessary for such travel. Compared to cars and jet travel, high speed rail is extremely efficient in both time and resources.
By Executive Order, the President is to mandate the planning and construction of this system to be operational between the top 10 US MSAs within ten years.
