Implement a national internet infrastructure combating ISP monopolies that is comparable with other global competitors.

Created by Z.W. on February 12, 2013

The US internet speed and accessibility is growing outdated in comparison to global progress in the same field. Many areas in the US have no access at all to internet services, while many are being gouged by individual ISPs holding local monopolies over internet service. This becomes even more apparent as you travel into small towns and rural areas where it is common to see internet access still restricted to high cost/low bandwidth services completely shamed by accessibility in many areas of the world. Based on recent statistics pulled from speedtests through speedtest.net comparing the mean MbpS download speed the US is currently ranked 34th worldwide. This petition is to further interest in implementation of a nation wide infrastructure to provide reasonably priced service and coverage.
