Implement national police reform to prevent both discrimination and abuse of power

Created by J.S. on September 27, 2014

We, the people of the United States of America, are growing increasingly angered in light of the civil rights violations committed by our own police forces.

We believe that crimes committed by officers (such as those in Ferguson) should not be handled so loosely. Officers of the law should not harbor thoughts of racism, sexism, or religious discrimination, nor should they believe themselves to be above the law.

In order to ensure such ideals, we believe a higher bar must be set by the Federal Government for all state and county police. All officers should wear body cameras, so that police can no longer rely on hearsay to protect themselves. Rigorous psych exams and education should be mandated on a federal level, and officers of the law should not be able to be protected so fiercely.
