In the past few decades, Obesity has skyrocketed in the U.S. & is continuing to grow.
It accounts for approx. $150 billion a year in health care spending & killing 2.8 million people per year, it's the 5th-leading risk factor for death worldwide. Other countries have implemented not only preventative measures, but laws to diminish the weight problem. The U.S. government however has been unwilling to take this challenge on.
Some of the main reasons most don’t currently take advantage of healthy food alternatives & fitness is because of the extra monetary costs of healthy living versus the convenience of unhealthy living.
By implementing federally funded programs w/ adequate diet & exercise requirements & informative classes, we can finally begin reducing this epidemic in the U.S.
