Implement a Negative Income Tax of $14,000 (2014 value), to be adjusted for inflation.

Created by M.S. on September 30, 2014

Workers must have a viable option to not work in order to have any sort of bargaining power against employers. To not work, they'd need enough money to live on. The minimum wage keeps undervalued workers dependent on underpaying employers.

The Negative Income Tax would allow the avoidance of overspending on non-healthcare related welfare by replacing programs it makes obsolete, eliminates the welfare trap by phasing out benefits more gradually than welfare does, and completely ends poverty.

A Negative Income Tax has been endorsed by people such as Milton Friedman and Martin Luther King, Jr, as well as 79% of economists.

We, the undersigned, therefore ask the President and the US government to implement a Negative Income Tax of $14,000 that would adjust for inflation.
