Implement a preferential voting system

In this system, votes for the voters’ first choice candidate are counted initially. After candidates have been eliminated, any unused votes are transferred according to the voter’s preferences. Our current election system creates spoiler candidates who take away votes from the two major political parties which can change the outcome of an election (like Nader in 2000). This makes voters who would normally vote for these candidates believe that there are only two real choices. The preferential system prevents “wasting” votes by voting for someone who has no chance of winning. This system creates an opportunity for candidates outside established parties to be correctly represented.
