Implement regulations in the banking industry to prohibit involvement in legal settlements.

Created by C.M. on March 31, 2012

Claims betting has become an industry that threatens every American every day. Avery Mitchel, a twenty one year old student from the University of Minnesota, was killed by a drunk driver on her way home for the holidays. Her parents sued the driver, seeking some form of justice for their daughter's death. That is, until a bank approached the family and offered them twenty thousand dollars up-front cash. In exchange, the bank would take any settlement with the court. Six months later, the court awarded five hundred thousand dollars to the Mitchell family. The bank took the whole thing.

This industry is prevalent in our courts, and the above story is only one example of what it can do to any legal victim. By signing this petition, you become an integral piece of stopping this industry.
