American industries and jobs have been devastated as a result of low-cost imports made possible by extremely low-wage and slave labor workers, and the outsourcing of manufacturing and technology jobs to places where software developers and support center employees can work for vastly lower wages. Foreign producers would be forced to compete with American companies on the basis of product and service quality alone by implementing a series of tariffs to make the cost of overseas production and services equivalent to the cost of domestic production and services.
