Implement a single federal income tax rate -- with no deductions, and a standard cost of living allowance per individual

Created by L.M. on March 12, 2015

It’s time to revise the federal income tax code to a single uniform tax rate that would be informally applied to all forms of income and for all individuals.
A tax-exempt, standardized cost of living allowance -- based on the zip code of legal residence – could be allowed for each individual (including children). All other deductions and exemptions would be eliminated.

The current income tax system effectively allows our government to structure taxes in ways that favor some classes at the expense of other classes. This is blatantly unfair.
The tax code is convoluted, arcane, and complex to the point where only highly-trained professionals can be reasonably expected to understand the code – but the laws assume individuals are nevertheless legally responsible.
