On 1/14/2014 a DC circuit court ruled in Verizon's favor that broadband carriers did not have to follow the FCC's Open Internet Order, basically leaving net neutrality dead in the water. Because of this broadband providers are now allowed to take measures to control what information resources and how the common citizen can access it on the internet. This behavior is at odds with the ideals and beliefs that made the internet what it is today, and will allow carriers to act in malicious ways that will hinder innovation and damage the business of competitors. The internet should be open to everyone, not who the carriers decide.
