Stricter restrictions should be implemented, not on what the recipient is able to purchase but rather who the recipient will be.
Since the start of the "war on poverty" in 1965, the United States has spent more than $5 trillion trying to ease the plight of the poor. What we have received for this massive investment is -- primarily -- more poverty. Our current welfare system is highly inefficient, with little to no restrictions, almost anyone can qualify. This leaves an open door for those in search of free and easy money.
We are aware of the economic struggle our nation is facing, while there are those who urgently need aid, there also are those who abuse the system and purchase items using welfare credits only to exchange them for alcohol or similar welfare restricted items.
