The bottled water industry is having a negative environmental and economic impact. This is defunding the pubic water systems and reducing their ability to provide safe drinking water to the public. A big part of the problem is negative consumer perceptions of tap water quality and the purchasing habits these negative perceptions can lead to. Home water filtration devices improve consumer perception of tap water quality and reduce purchases of bottled water products. Tax deductions for home water filtration devices can be implemented under the ARRA to slow this environmentally and economically damaging trend.
