It is clear that sufficient resources are not available to appropriately protect the border. As a result, we must tackle the root cause of illegal immigration by reducing the availability of employment.
To acheive this goal, we believe that employers should be required to utilize the E-verify sytem when completing I-9 forms.
We further believe that additional resources should be allocated to the enforcement of these requirements to allow for more investigations.
Lastly, fines associated with non-compliance should be increased to provide additional incentive for employers to take responsibility for the legal status of their employees.
