implore the DEA to reclassify cannabis to a lower schedule under the CSA to facilitate the research of medical cannabis.

Created by C.W. on September 27, 2011

Cannabis, or marijuana as it is commonly known, is a plant that has been in use medicinally for over 5,000 years with well documented results.16 states and the District of Columbia currently accept that marijuana has medical value. We believe that cannabis has many medical properties and must be researched to discover the full medical potential of the plant. However, under current CSA classification, marijuana is Schedule 1 and may not be dispensed for research except under strict parameters. We petition the Obama administration to implore the Drug Enforcement Agency to reconsider its classification of marijuana, thus allowing the proper controlled research to be done.
