Impose a 4-year salary reduction to all federally elected officials by 10% to help reduce the national debt.

Created by J.S. on January 10, 2013

We currently have over 500,000 federal officials elected by popular vote. With an estimated average of around $150,000 per year per official, this amounts to $75 billion per year paid out to federal officials. If these salaries were reduced by 10% for a period of 4 years, we would be able to apply the resulting $30 billion directly to the national debt.

Even though this figure is only a very small percentage to the overall debt, if it is applied directly to the debt, it will considerably help to improve our economy.
