Impose and enforce a ban on excess Homework. Limit the amount of homework students can be assigned.

Created by R.B. on March 23, 2013

Students today are assigned far too much homework which can prevent them from doing any other activities, such as playing, exercising, engaging in extracurricular activities and generally experiencing childhood. I propose that the government limit the maximum amount of homework that can be given to children. This limit would be 10 minutes per grade level per day. So, under this system, a first grader could be assigned a maximum of 10 minutes of homework, a second grader would have a maximum of 20 minutes of homework, and a twelfth grader could have a maximum of 120 minutes of homework. Research, such as this study by Duke University: http://today.duke.edu/2006/03/homework.html, suggests that this is the ideal amount of homework.
