The internet is a public forum for all of human thought and knowledge. It has transformed and matured to become a public utility.
In this day and age access to the internet and the legal content it holds should flow unburdened.
To leave the possibility that access to information and ideas, as well as our ability to express our freedoms of press, speech and assembly could be impacted by corporate boards and stockholders is unsound. It threatens to hold our nation back in commerce, culture and education.
We ask that either through executive order or legislative action, providers of internet services be classified as common carriers.
They will function solely as providers of a public utility as has occurred with precedence in the telecommunication, water and power industries.
