Private employers often require employees to pass pre-employment and random drug testing in order to secure their jobs and continue to collect a paycheck. It is inexcusable to provide welfare, unemployment and other government assistance without the same standards.
I have been subjected to having my urine collected on a regular basis, so I can remain employed and pay my taxes. Those taxes should NOT be given out to individuals who can not regularly pass drug tests as well.
If it is a violation of their civil rights, then law needs to be passed making it a violation for private employers to do so!
Drug tests for all government assistance recipients and I am sure that all of past Jerry Springer guests will look for work, stop having children and stop doing drugs with MY tax money!
