California is home to the USA's surf board industry and is suffering the highest unemployment rate in the country. Most nations with many surfers charge an import duty of 20-25% (Taiwan charges 50% duty!) on surfboards made in the USA. Yet the USA does not charge ANY duty on imported surfboards. This means that workers in this industry are loosing their jobs or have seen a significant decrease in salary in real dollars since the 1980's. Let's protect American surfboard makers from unfair competition and impose a duty on all imported surfboards of 25%.
