The right to bear arms is guaranteed to all Americans by the Constitution of the United States.
There have been over 10,000 firearms related deaths in the U.S. In 2015 alone. Over 500 of those are children.
We can no longer afford to do nothing In the face of angry rhetoric and aggressive lobbying by the NRA.
The vast majority of gun owners are responsible citizens- a total firearms ban is not in order, or even practical. This tax would severely curtail new gun sales and availibility of ammunition without changing our Constitutionally protected freedoms.
The monies collected will pay for medical care for victims of gun violence, for gun safety education, or possibly for expanded background checks.
Exemptions would include military, law enforcement and the motion picture industry.
