To impose a federal tax on plastic bags.

Plastic bags are coming more and more of a problem in the environment. Plastic bags look like jellyfish which are food for sea turtles. Being that sea turtles are on the endangered list already and the increasing numbers of plastic bags in the ocean makes their numbers decline. Taxing plastic bags would help bring down the number of plastic bags being given to people in the US but will not cut down on the number of bags already in the water. With the money generated from this new tax there could be paid people who clean shore lines monthly and pick up and other debris in the water. Another route can be that with the money generated from this new tax can be used to help with the current budget problems that the government is experiencing right now.
