Impose import taxes on countries not meeting environmental rules, health / welfare levels, and min wages the US imposes

We need Fair Trade, not Free Trade. It is not fair for US businesses to compete with labor in other countries that do not impose the same level of protections we have in the US. The answer is not to lower the US protections, but tax imports from companies that do not have such protections. This offsets the cost advantages of producing with less protections and at the same time encourages countries to raise their protections. If a company can show the levels of environmental rules, health welfare benefits, and minimum wages are equal to US standards, their import tax would be zero; otherwise, taxes would be imposed equal to the differences. This would also apply to the imports of products of US companies that choose to manufacture outside of the US. Mature markets need FAIR trade to prosper
