More needs to be done to prevent discrimination against women in the workforce. There are well publicized statistics regarding the fact that women get paid an average of 77% as compared to men in the same positions. How is it that these statistics are gathered & published but nothing is done to correct this? Fields which are traditionally male dominated are among the worst offenders. What few women are hired face denial of moving benefits & signing bonuses. If hired, they usually later find out that male counterparts were awarded these benefits & higher wages. Besides being paid more, men are also typically given more opportunity to train & advance. Companies plaster non-discrimination statements on their walls but never fear retribution for there wrong doings, as he EEOC is useless.
