Churches should pay taxes on their assets. The richest church in the world has thousands of thousands of billions in assets, yet are closing churches that have become in recent years dedicated to serving the poor. Churches are becoming more involved in government policy and laws breaching the separation of church and state. Tax exempt deals struck with churches over a hundred years ago need be re-evaluated, and imposing a progressive tax is a reasonable action.
