Russia is continuing its occupation of Ukrainian territory of Crimea. It even held a mockery referendum there. Actions of Russian government violate international laws and bilateral treaties. Rights of Ukrainian citizens are not respected by the occupying force. Russia shows no wiliness to deescalate the situation.
America and Europe imposed only very mild sanctions on some of the Russian officials responsible for the misdeeds. These sanctions are just the slap on the wrist and cannot persuade Russia to withdraw its forces. Effective sanctions must go to the heart of Russian economy to its banks and energy sector. However painful such sanctions might be to US and Europe, not imposing them would lead to continuous aggression and, potentially, taking over the whole territory of Ukraine. Unfo
