The American people are tired of horrific news reports on mass shootings and other forms of gun violence. This violence is preventable, and it is time we as a nation stand up and do something about it. As such, we ask that our government impose sensible restrictions on gun ownership. This includes, but is not limited to, background checks, restrictions on the types of guns available for purchase, and stricter regulation of gun dealers.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 33,636 people were killed by firearms in 2013.
According to shootingtracker.com, as of September 29th, there had been 293 mass shootings in 2015.
This is a matter of life and death. It's time for our government to stand up to special interest groups and introduce sensible gun laws.
