The FDA's regulations on food that are classified "safe" are far too lax. Foods that contain potentially toxic chemicals are allowed on U.S. markets without question. Fireball Whisky, which contains a component used to make antifreeze and various cosmetics, has been recalled in Europe, while it's still considered safe in the U.S. Similarly, BVO, which has been banned in over 100 countries for decades, is still regularly used in soft drinks in the United States due to a legal loophole. Kashi cereal came under fire for using synthetic ingredients and altered its label, but it's still selling, even when one of its ingredients is a component of gasoline.
I'm requesting this petition to be signed so our government would stop allowing poison into our markets for regular consumption.
