This petition is written to ask that the Obama Administration, with the required number of signatures, impose a moratorium on the issuance of legal work and student visas, as well as the legal permanent immigration resulting in citizenship until a point that the unemployment rate is below 3%, nationwide, among American citizens of working age. This petition is not seeking an anti-immigration stance on behalf of the United States but seeks to remove those who hold work and student visas from competing for jobs that should be first offered to legal American citizens that currently populate the ranks of the unemployed. This petition is written with the belief that in doing so, this would, both, open the job market up for the unemployed American citizens and increas tax revenue.
