It is not in the nature of the American public, that a congressman or woman serves for an extended period of time. The position of congress is not there to provide a lifelong career of enforcing one's personal beliefs onto a nation, but rather is a civic duty that should be implemented for the people. This petition also asks that Congress's retirement benefits be withdrawn. The position of a congressman or woman is to serve the people as a civic duty, and we the people should not be forced to pay for the cost of a civil servant after their term is spent in the same manner as a juror is paid only in due course of their services in their civic duties. The power of the congress shall lie with the people not a few hundred of the elite who refuse to adapt to the nations interests.
