I am petitioning our administration to add time limits pertaining to ones criminal record. A criminal record in today's society can be extremely detrimental to ones survival. There are hundreds of thousands of Americans with a criminal record, most being non-violent in nature and many of those being the only offense they have ever received. We have individuals in there 70's who still have to explain a non-violent conviction they received when they were 18, 19, or even early 20's. I am asking that the government take a closer look at how convicted criminals are serving life long sentences well after their debt to society has been paid. Jobs are hard enough to find without having to check yes when asked about criminal history. A 10 year time limit with no new charges seems fair to me.
