Students receiving federal financial aid are required to make satisfactory academic progress in order to continuing receiving funding, currently defined as satisfactorily completing at least 2/3 of all attempted credits with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA for 46+ credits, scaled downward to minimum of 1.6 GPA for the first 16 credits. This does nothing to promote a highly qualified, competitive workforce.
To support above average economically disadvantaged college students and promote academic success, raise satisfactory academic progress standards over four years to accept not less than 75% successful completion of credits attempted and a minimum GPA of 2.6 for 46+ credits and a minimum GPA of 2.0 for the first 16 credits.
