The processing time for K-1 fiance visa applications by filing a form I-129F has increased substantially from an average of 5 months to almost 8 months with many applicants waiting for more than 9 months. There has been some evidence that this delay is due to the prioritizing of DACA applications over K-1 fiance applications at the California service center. This is in direct opposition to the President's promise to prioritize those immigrants that have followed the legal path to citizenship over immigrants that have been here illegally. An increase in K-1 processing times also has a negative impact on the lives and relationships of young people and those trying to start a family in the US. The Whitehouse should resolve to address this backlog of K-1 applications immediately.
