Our weather model (GFS) is substantially lacking in supercomputing power compared to other countries models like the European Model or the Euro, the GFS has been the subject of many weather related news stories lately, like the winter storm Sequester or Saturn that recently affected the East coast of the United States. The only way to change this is to increase funding toward it through NOAA and/or NWS (National Weather Service). Getting funding would improve forecasts for everyone in the USA and other regions.
