Members of the military bear a heavy burden to defend our country. They are paid at a rate comparable to entry-level positions in the civilian world, despite working longer hours and under severe restrictions that civilians are not subject to. Additionally, while on base, a member of the military can expect to surrender the following constitutional rights:
The right to freedom of speech
The right to keep and bear arms
Protection from unreasonable search and seizure
The right to due process of law
The right to trial by jury
Protection from cruel and unusual punishment
We petition the Obama administration to provide a reasonable salary for troops that accounts for their working conditions and labor, and to immediately restore civil rights to all military members, at all times.
