The Root Cause of White on Black Police Killings include:
- Racial inequity between Police and Communities
- Guns as a weapon of choice for police
- Fear
- Impunity
Solutions:
First, police forces must resemble the communities they police. Encourage black teens to consider community policing as a career. Recruit at Historically Black Colleges/Universities (Educated Police Officers!)
Second, Use more sophisticated, e.g. less lethal weapons than guns.
Third, Provide police adequate self defense training - they will be less likely to resort to killing under stress.
Fourth, all killings of black people by white police officers must be investigated by a process OTHER than a Grand Jury.
Finally, cameras must be used by all police during stops, searches, seizures, and arrests.
