Improve Voter Turnout By Making Election Day a Federal Holiday

Created by A.S. on April 25, 2014

Give more Americans an opportunity to vote. Election Day is arguably the most important day of the year and it should a federal holiday. For employed Americans, taking time off work to vote is frequently burdensome and disruptive.

Currently, at least 49 other countries vote on the weekend to improve voter turnout, including Switzerland, France, Germany, & Australia. Over 100 countries have high voter turnout than the United States.

Improving voter turnout = improving democracy. Make Election Day a holiday or put it on a weekend. We the people deserve more opportunities to vote, and the across the US, several states are doing the opposite by reducing voting hours and creating voter ID restrictions.

Lets come together and make it easier to vote. It will benefit us all!!!
