Studies consistently show the societal benefits from stable marriages, particularly in regards to raising children. However, stable marriages are become less common as couples divorce and more individuals simply opt out of marriage altogether. As marriage is a civil agreement endorsed by the government, it is proposed that the government incentivize insurance companies and employers who provide insurance, to offer at least one all-expense covered marriage counseling session per year to those couples with children desiring to strengthen their marriage. Incentives may be in the form of tax cuts, credits, subsidies, etc. This action will serve to perpetuate the historically proven positive feedback loop existing between stable marriages, society, and the government.
