Thirteen people have died in Minneapolis as a result of an interstate bridge that was judged to be non compliant in safety standards for 17 consecutive years. Thousands of bridges are in the same condition and a very few have actually been closed off. We are running a death lottery in this country: what bridge will be next and who will die as a result?
