The Animal Welfare Act protects only certain animals from cruelty, poor living conditions, and inhumane treatment. Animals raised for food and fiber are NOT protected by the AWA. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE IMMEDIATELY. Animals raised on factory farms, dairy farms, fur farms, and any other intensive farm, are not properly cared for, forced to live in conditions that are unfit for their natural development and wellbeing, and are often tortured and abused by disturbed factory workers. These industries need to change NOW or shut down completely. Welfare standards need to exist for these animals and need to be enforced NOW. This is unacceptable.
