Include English in the STEM Education Initiative

Created by H.L. on March 11, 2013

While Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are all important subjects under the STEM initiative that do need to be focused on, why is English being left out? No matter how much emphasis you place on these subjects if a student cannot perform well in English they will not perform well in these areas. Reading and spelling and grammar are the foundation of a good and solid education. If a child never does well in English, they will never do as well in other subjects. The E in Stem should be changed to English, and they could even keep engineering under technology as not to cut it out. We need to make sure our children are getting the best foundation they can, and that good English teachers are getting jobs to be able to teach our children to start them off right.
