include ethnic minorities' in negotiations with Government of Myanmar addressing stolen ethnic lands as the main issue.

Created by T.H. on January 20, 2013

This petition addresses the need for a total review of US Government policy for engagement in Mynamar to ensure the equal rights of ethnic minorities, whose ancestral lands rich in natural resources have been brutally stolen by the Burmese Army for decades.

This inclusion reflects the logic that (1) many ethnics were America's faithful allies during World War II and have been the main defenders of the pro-democracy movement in Burma for almost six decades, (2) ethnic populations cover half of Burma's land mass, (3) ethnic lands provide most of Burma's natural resource wealth, (4) ethnic lands control most of Burma's borders and international trade routes, and (5) ethnics collectively comprise up to 50% of Burma's population.

Ethnics need Americans to champion their rights.
