Music is an integral part of the human mind and process, and as days go by, music and music education is appreciated less and less. I propose that every high school, for the purpose of fully engaging a student mind, have at least 1 music related class that students are required to take. Be it a band or choir class, some form of music appreciation, theory, history, composition, etc. Music is the only activity that activates all parts of the brain, and one of few that incorporates so many other subjects into it. Math, science, foreign language and history are just some. Not only will a greater appreciation for the music that this country, and world, was rooted from create a better appreciation for it, but we would be sure to see test scores and other quantitative data increase also.
