What the current congressional oath of office lacks is any requirement for honesty and truth. As part of this new commitment congress would enact a law providing for the criminal prosecution of those who violate this oath. The consequence of such conviction shall be the immediate removal of the guilty from office and thereby forfeiting any and all remuneration including retirement benefits.
Furthermore, should the government fail to enforce such law within thirty (30) days of said crime, a representative of the public may proceed with a civil action to declare said violator unworthy of office with a conviction resulting in the same consequences as a criminal conviction.
This would change the entire character of politicians and politics to the benefit of the public at-large.
