Include political advertising as an activity subject to enforcement under FTC “truth in advertising” statutes.

Created by A.F. on February 04, 2014

Currently, political advertising is an activity exempt from scrutiny on the basis of truth in advertising by virtue of its being assumed to be a non-profit activity. However, it is well known that political campaigns are all-too-often privately funded by interests seeking influence on those politicians who may help them when elected. It is, in effect, for profit, both on the part of the candidate and the donors. Truth in advertising should be enforced.
