Florida's "Stand Your Ground" laws are unconstitutional, as they do not provide equal protection under the law. They authorize any person to use excessive and unfortunately deadly force when confronted outside of the home. Law enforcement advocates oppose these policies, as they are difficult to enforce, investigate, and, as what has happened with Trayvon Martin and Jordan Russell Davis, result in a disparate number of minority deaths through gun violence. Put these laws on the table in the gun safety discussions.
